A common 8 mm reference scale-factor magnitude is 7.87 mV/μm (200 mV/mil). Verify output polarity, linear range, DC gap voltage and the monitor input before replacement. Other tip sizes may use different scales. Probe tip diameter and thread must be verified on the assembly drawing; listed sizes are not freely combinable.

Define the conditions behind the measurement
Match the complete electrical length: probe integral cable plus extension cable. A 5 m or 9 m assembly is a configured system, not a freely extendable cable.
API 670 project requirements include more than a probe sensitivity. Request documented system qualification before using a configuration for protection or trip service.
Listed ranges and interfaces are inquiry options. Approved ratings, drawings and calibration data belong to the selected configuration.
Metal grade, thickness and curvature change the curve.
Request factory linearization for AISI 4140 / 42CrMo, aluminum 6061, stainless steel 304 / 316, copper or titanium. Confirm the representative target and calibration conditions in your quote.

Before you approve the measuring system
Can the same calibration be used on steel and aluminum?
Do not assume so. Specify the material grade, thickness and curvature and agree the calibration curve for your target.
Can a replacement probe be mixed with an existing driver?
Only after the exact probe, electrical length, driver, target and output curve have been qualified together. Connector fit alone is insufficient.
